GROCERY AND MARKETS

For basic groceries, Abarrotes Hnos is a short walk from the Casa on Coral Street.  There are numerous mini-supers along the main highway into La Cruz as well as a Super Kiosko at the corner of Coral and Langosta Ave for alcohol and other convenience items.

The mercado del mar (seafood market) is at the Marina where you can find the catch of the day and support the local economy!

At the Marina and Town Square you will also find the Sunday Market from November to April!

The closest major grocery stores are located in Bucerías about a 10-minute taxi/Uber/bus ride away (ChedrauiMega and La Comer).

RESTAURANTS AND BARS

La Cruz has a variety of bars, restaurants and street food that offer authentic Mexican food as well as International options. The hardest decision of your day will be choosing where to eat!

Trip Advisor reviews some of the options in town and nearby, but we encourage you to explore others as well, including those off the beaten path!

Our family go to for breakfast and a quick lunch is Cristi's Cafe right next door!

These are just a few recommended local eats but there are too many great places to name!

Taxis

TRANSPORTATION

We maintain a relationship with trusted local drivers who we recommend to contact for scheduling airport pick up/drop-off, regional transportation to nearby towns, beaches, golf, shopping centers etc.

For an inexpensive mode of transportation, the colectivos are 12-18 passenger vans/mini buses that have routes between all local towns (sign posted on front of bus). There are no set schedules, but you rarely have to wait more than 5-10 minutes for a bus to drive by. Wave your hand and they'll stop for you, or the nearest designated pick up/drop off can be found here

If you need a taxi, the local taxi stand is within walking distance on Langosta Avenue. Uber is also available for transport throughout the region.

Located south of Mismaloya the gardens offer self guided or organized tours with restaurant on site. Dentist Office

DENTISTRY

We can recommend trusted dentists in the area for routine, surgical and emergency dentistry.

For a list of dental offices in the area click here.

Mexican Pesos

BANKING AND ATMS

We recommend using MXN pesos over USD. Many places will accept USD but they are not obligated to give you the current exchange rate.  In restaurants, shops and markets, it's always better to pay in MXN pesos!

Most of the businesses in La Cruz do not accept credit cards (except gas stations and major grocery stores).

The easiest way to get pesos are at the ATMs. We recommend only using ATMs inside banks, major grocery stores or at the airport. ATM fees and maximum withdraw amounts vary across ATMs. CI Banco typically has low ATM fees and is recommended for exchanging USD.
